Vintage Nashville

I scored some amazing finds at Thrift Smart when I was in Nashville.  It's rare for me to have to make selections among things I like, normally I rule out most of what I pick in the dressing room.  I like going to new stores for fresh meat that I haven't already picked over.  There was a vintage record store in the same strip mall, so I posed with Dolly.

There were camera issues, which ruined most of the pictures, but it did give a few of them a cool effect.  Here's my favorite fierce effed up shot.

Thanksgiving, y'all!

I spent the holiday in Nashville with Matt's family.  Many servings of stuffing and pie were consumed but we managed to sneak away for a moment to document my flowy food baby concealing top.

This is the site where Matt used to go for colonial day at school to churn butter and dip wax candles with his adorable little bowl haircut.  Last time we visited there was a portable gun range in the parking lot.  For those of you not accustomed to such things, it's a trailer that you go inside to practice target shooting.  Total Southern awesomeness, I know.  I thought it would make an appropriate backdrop, but alas, it wasn't there.  This tractor (or whatever) was fun to climb on in the wind though.

On the Run: Brooklyn

Last week we enjoyed 24 hours in NYC!  I got to hang out with good friends, get a massage at Bliss, and soak up the street fashion.  A big reason I started this blog is to make sure I don't slip into a deep depression up here in the wilderness and stop dressing myself.  I've seen some signs of that happening and I'm fighting it!  Step one: organize the closet... well, maybe later.

I'm posing with a Hans Van de Bovenkamp sculpture titled Undulation on Pratt's campus.  I loved being a student here and walking through the rotating sculpture garden that makes up the campus.  I'll have to hunt out sculpture gardens upstate.  I keep meaning to go to Storm King which is not so out of the way when I drive back to visit my parents, but somehow I never leave myself enough time.  Maybe it will be a trip for the Spring.

On the Run: Niagra Falls

For Matt's fall break we took advantage of our proximity to a foreigh country.  That's right, Canada.  We drove up to Niagra Falls and then on to Toronto.  I LOVED Niagra Falls (aka the Falls).  We were only there for a day, but I enjoyed the cheesyness of the town, the delightful Italian dinner we ate, but most of all, the enormity of the Falls.  We took a tour behind the Falls where you could get up close and personal with the crashing murderous water.  It was impressive.
